Green Practices

|
We enjoy collaborating with our homebuilding clients to incorporate their green and sustainable building ideas and concepts. We're happy to research various options with clients to help to create a home that's healthier for them, their families and the planet.
Willis Builders constantly tracks and evaluates new developments in construction industry practices. We then incorporate these practices into our homes when we believe they are capable of meeting or exceeding our own high standards, such as low maintenance, longevity and relative affordablility.
Improving energy efficiency, wisely using resources and reducing environmental toxins are just some of the direct benefits of “green” building practices. The indirect benefits then become saving money, conserving the natural places that attract most of us to Central Oregon and living in homes that are healthier for ourselves and our children.
These are examples of some green practices we incorporate into every Willis Builders home: • We use only Forest Stewardship Council certified lumber, which comes from responsibly managed forests. • Engineered floor trusses and sheeting are manufactured from forest by-products, which makes the most efficient use of timber resources. • We recycle wood scrap, minimizing material waste that would otherwise be landfilled. • Low volatile organic compounds (VOC) paints improve indoor air quality by virtually eliminating off-gassing of these chemicals inside the home. • Using formaldehyde-free insulation improves indoor air quality.
Willis Builders is also certified by Earth Advantage®, the Northwest's premier green building program. Click_here_to_learn_more_about_Earth_Advantage.
